Busselton Jetty: Another Perspective

This is another shot I took of the jetty. Basically same idea as the other one, with foreground interest and the jetty in the background. This one gives you a sense of how long the jetty is. From its website: "The 140-year-old Busselton Jetty, measured at 1841 metres, is the longest wooden jetty (pier) in the southern hemisphere."

Hippies

The hippies were out in force Saturday night in Margaret River for the Xavier Rudd concert. That's a good thing, I feel mucho respecto for our tree hugging friends. This isn't the greatest shot in the world, but it was nice to watch some people who don't necessarily fit the norm. I've applied a film grain filter in an attempt to make it look half decent.

The Busselton Jetty

Kathryn and myself returned today from a short getaway to Busselton. This was the spot we first came to when we arrived on Saturday for a swim. This shot was taken this morning when we returned for just one final swim before the drive back.

Re the shot: the only thing I've done to the shot is crop it. I think the foreground interest makes this photo quite visually pleasing, and sets it apart from being just another 'holiday snap' of a well known tourist attraction in WA.

The Post Box

This shot was taken just up the street from our place. Here I've tried turn what was an ordinary photo into one that is moody and interesting. Have I succeeded? If nothing else I've learnt some cool new things in photoshop. The inspiration for this comes from here.

More inspiration

Gravity Games

This was fully sick. These guys got some serious air, they must have balls of steel.

Why the tie?

Afterwork Monday as I made my way through the CBD I walked past a tie lying on the footpath. How did it get there? Did it simply fall out of someone's bag? Or did someone decide to leave the ratrace, discarding their tie in a symbolic gesture (that may even inspire others) in the streets of Perth whilst crying "I'm free.... I'm free" and running as fast as possible to their car so they could take off.....

Sunday Colour

A simple shot, but I love the colour and the way in which it fills the photo.

It was taken on Sunday afternoon during a short walk around the neighbourhood.

Morning View

This shot is basically the view from my kitchen window. I wasn't meaning to post this morning but it caught my eye as I was preparing breakfast. It was raining overnight and 10 minutes after this shot it also started bucketing down.

Araluen

This is the view from atop of the 16th hole at the Araluen Golf Course (in the hills 30 minutes from Perth).

A beautiful golf course with spectacular views.

I could imagine an artist sitting down and painting this scene, hence I like the result with a simple brush filter.

Grey and red...
Turn to orange and blue.

Could just mean...
Its a Saturday!

Red & Grey

One street away,

An industrial feel.

One red building,

In a sea of grey.

Morning Tree

The trees they grow high...

And their green they do grow green....

Whilst going for a morning run on Monday, I just happened to pull up at this tree for a stretch. I noticed the simple beauty of the tree trunk and its branches and so I returned the next morning with my camera for this shot.

In Bloom

A new neighbourhood...

A new day...

A new beginning...

The neighbourhood is awash with colour at the moment as the in bloom jacarandas show off their brilliant purple.
