Remember

This is a shot of the eternal flame that burns at the Kings Park Memorial. It was lit in 2000 from a flame taken from the Australian War Memorial. This is said to provide a symbolic link to the place where the place where the names of all of Australia's war dead are recorded.

Wattle Bird

I captured this shot of a wattle bird in Kings Park today.

This is one of the first shots I have taken with a 75-300mm lense. I'm very impressed with the results!

Black & White Submarine

My last photo from the sculptures exhibition is this submarine. Now all together now on the count of 3. 1....... 2........ 3.........
In the town where I was born
Lived a man who sailed to sea
And he told us of his life
In the land of submarines

So we sailed up to the sun
Till we found the sea of green
And we lived beneath the waves
In our yellow submarine

We all live in a yellow submarine
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine
We all live in a yellow submarine
Yellow submarine, yellow submarine

Have a fantastic day, and don't forget to be a little crazy (probably not an issue for my sole reader hah!).

The 8ball Says No!

Well this was probably the most talked about sculpture of the exhibition and, judging from the number of kids who were swimming out to it on Sunday, also probably the most popular. I don't think the actual sculpture of the 8ball is anything special, but the idea to plonk it out in the ocean was obviously a brilliant one.

Ironman

This was one of my favourite sculptures. I think the "Ironman" figure is striking against the light blue background and white sand in the foreground.

Noble Chiefs of the Beach

Well Kathryn, Xavier & I went to Cottesloe again yesterday. It was a beautiful day - the ocean was calm, the sun was shining & there was just a light wind.

Yesterday was the final day of the Sculptures by the Sea exhibit. These "Noble Chiefs" were one of my favourites. More photos of the sculptures to come this week.....
